As we start with autumn, the glorious light with mist and fog follows along. It is right time to start planning for finding new places to shoot and then revisit them in the right conditions. As the sun starts to move North, the days gets shorter which gives more opportunity to catch up with Sunrise and Sunsets, specially for those living in the northern hemisphere. In Autumn, the leaves allows the tree or a plant to suck in all the food and store it inside to survive through the winter. The green leaves slowly turns from green to yellow to orange and sometimes to red before falling down. That’s why is good idea to revisit the places more frequently. I have added few of my photographs taken in Autumn to get inspired.

Tip : A circular polariser is a very helpful filter to use while shooting trees. It removes the reflections off the leaves and makes it more vibrant and clear. To add, it works best when you angle the filter at 90 degrees to sun light.

If there is a dense fog around, don’t get dishearten. You might have to wait for sometime but eventually you will be able to capture a photograph which you might like more than all other photographs in your portfolio. While i took the above photograph, it started with a full foggy day with no sunlight filtering through but as i stopped for sometime and as per the weather forecast, the fog eventually got clear and sunlight started to filter though the fog. This is moment for which you should be ready for and just take your shot.

Panoramas sometimes works best in some situations instead of Wide angle lens. In the above photograph, I used my Canon EF 100-400 MM IS L USM lens captured few shots to merge it later in Lightroom to create a beautiful panorama. The main thing here is that there are no distractions and a viewer gets indulged in your photograph straightaway.

Composition is a key. Think twice before what you capture and does it work for you. As soon as i saw the above trees, I knew what i had to photograph in here. I was just waiting for the fog to lift a bit and then there you go. I love the way, those zig zag lines finally takes you to those beautiful autumnal trees. Because of fog it became easy for me to get rid of all the distractions and just concentrate on those trees.

It took two years to shoot the above photograph. Reaching in right conditions specially when those leaves were totally golden and yellow. It is a best example of revisiting same place again and again and eventually you succeed.

This is most trickiest photograph to shoot among all of the above ones. You have to be there at right time, place and even 5 mins here and there could make or break your photograph. Here, the frost on that beautiful little mushroom lasted for just few mins before it disappeared. I visited this place so many times that i knew where to find these little mushrooms and make a photograph before the frost melts off.
